Our firm successfully resolved a premises liability claim on behalf of a hotel guest who suffered serious knee injuries in a slip-and-fall accident at a major Las Vegas Strip resort. The case highlights the obligation hotels and casinos have to promptly address hazards in high-traffic guest areas.
The incident occurred in July 2009, while our client was walking through the hotel’s food court with friends. She slipped on standing water that had been left unattended across multiple areas of the floor. Witnesses confirmed that no warning signs were posted and that housekeeping staff were aware of the spill but failed to clean it up before the fall occurred.
As a result, our client fell forcefully onto her left knee and experienced immediate pain and difficulty walking. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital, where she was diagnosed with a knee contusion and discharged with crutches, a knee immobilizer, and pain medication.
After returning home, she required extensive follow-up treatment, including emergency room visits, orthopedic care, diagnostic imaging, injections, and months of physical therapy. An MRI revealed a significant bone bruise, possible patellar dislocation, and a partial tear to supporting knee structures. Despite consistent treatment, she continued to suffer from weakness, limited range of motion, and chronic pain that interfered with her ability to work and participate in everyday activities.
The defense attempted to minimize responsibility for the incident. Through witness statements, medical documentation, and deposition testimony, we established that the hotel’s failure to address a known slip hazard was the direct cause of our client’s injuries. We demonstrated how the unsafe condition violated basic premises safety standards owed to guests.
The case ultimately resolved through a settlement that provided meaningful compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
This outcome underscores the importance of holding Las Vegas hotels and casinos accountable when they fail to maintain safe premises—and how experienced Nevada slip-and-fall attorneys can help injured guests pursue justice and financial recovery.
